우리는 소비의 편리함 속에서 수많은 물건을 만들고, 사용하고, 버린다. 하지만 버려진 것들은 단순한 폐기물이 아니라, 예술과 새로운 시선을 통해 새로운 가치와 가능성을 발견할 기회가 되기도 한다.

포리 심 작가는 업사이클링 아트(upcycling art)를 기반으로, 버려진 플라스틱과 산업 폐기물에 새로운 생명력을 불어넣는 작업을 이어오고 있다. 작가의 손길을 통해 한때 쓸모를 잃고 버려졌던 물건들은 키덜트적 감성과 동화적인 분위기를 품은 로봇의 형태로 다시 태어나며, 우리 일상 속에서 간과되기 쉬운 환경 문제를 새로운 시선으로 환기시킨다.

이번 전시는 포리 심 작가와 메디컬 코스메틱 브랜드 나인테일즈(NINETAILS)가 함께 ‘시간’의 주제로 한 특별한 협업 프로젝트다. 이 프로젝트는 나인테일즈의 공병을 단순한 소비의 흔적에서 벗어나 예술적 오브제로 재탄생시키는 데에서 시작되었다. 작가는 공병이라는 일상의 부산물에 새로운 의미를 부여하며, 그것을 아름다움과 지속 가능성 사이를 잇는 감각적인 매개체로 승화시킨다.

작품과 함께 배치된 실제 제품은 단순한 디스플레이를 넘어, 작가와 브랜드가 공유하는 ‘순환과 환원’의 철학이 시작된 지점을 상징적으로 보여준다. 나인테일즈가 지향하는 지속 가능한 아름다움, 그리고 포리심 작가의 예술적 시선이 하나의 이야기로 엮이며, 이번 프로젝트는 소비 이후의 가능성을 시각적으로 경험하게 한다.

In the convenience of consumption, we continuously create, use, and discard countless objects. Yet what is thrown away is not merely waste—it can also become a site of new value and potential when viewed through the lens of art and imagination.

Fori Sim is an artist known for upcycling art, breathing new life into discarded plastics and industrial waste. Under her hands, once-useless objects are reborn as robot-like sculptures infused with a sense of kidult charm and fairytale whimsy. Her works prompt viewers to reconsider often-overlooked environmental issues, offering a fresh and playful perspective on sustainability within everyday life.

This exhibition presents a special collaborative project between Fori Sim and the medical cosmetic brand NINETAILS, centered on the theme of “Time.” The project begins by transforming empty cosmetic containers—traces of consumption—into artistic objects. Through her creative reinterpretation, the artist elevates these ordinary remnants into aesthetic mediators that bridge beauty and sustainability.

The actual products displayed alongside the artworks go beyond mere exhibition props; they serve as symbolic points of origin for the shared philosophy of “circulation and return” embraced by both the artist and the brand. Through this collaboration, NINETAILS’ vision of sustainable beauty intertwines with Fori Sim’s artistic gaze, offering a visual narrative that invites viewers to imagine new possibilities beyond consumption.
