​눈이 내리는 방. 

모든 소리가 잠잠해지고, 세상이 하얗게 덮이는 어느 고요한 시간.

최고은 작가는 이 침묵과 적막 속에서 오롯이 자기 자신의 안부를 묻는 내면의 공간을 발견한다. 작가는 이 공간을 ‘Zitadelle’이라 부른다. Zitadelle는 ‘요새 안의 독립된 작은 보루’를 뜻하며, 작가는 이를 “누구의 방해도 받지 않고, 나에게만 열려 있는 내면의 방”으로 해석하고 회화적 언어로 시각화한다.

눈으로 가득 찬 풍경 속, 사람의 발길이 닿지 않은 듯한 고요함은 일종의 정신적 고립이자 자유로움이다. 그 안의 집, 나무, 동물은 외부로부터 단절된 존재처럼 보이지만, 사실은 고요 속에 서 있는 ‘나’ 자신의 은유이다. 작가가 말하는 ‘안부’는 스스로에게 진심으로 묻는 “나는 괜찮은가”라는 근원적인 질문이다. 

연말은 누구에게나 조용히 자신을 돌아보게 하는 계절이다. 《The Snowing Room, Zitadelle》는 각자가 삶의 외곽에서 벗어나 자기만의 방에 머물며 자신과 조우하는 시간을 갖기를 제안하고, 다정한 연말의 쉼표가 되기를 바란다.

A moment of quiet, when all sounds fall silent and the world is covered in white.

In this stillness and silence, Goeun Choi discovers an inner space where she can ask herself, with sincerity, how she is truly doing. She names this space “Zitadelle.”

A German word meaning “a small, independent bastion within a fortress,” Zitadelle is reimagined by the artist as “an inner room open only to myself, free from all intrusion,” and is visualized through her painterly language.

In these snow-filled landscapes, the untouched stillness evokes both psychological isolation and a sense of freedom.

Houses, trees, and animals may appear cut off from the outside world, but in truth, they serve as metaphors for the self—quietly standing within that stillness.

The “well-being” the artist refers to is not a casual greeting, but a fundamental question asked inwardly: “Am I truly okay?”

The end of the year is a season that invites everyone to pause and reflect.

The Snowing Room, Zitadelle proposes a moment to step away from the noise of life, to stay in one’s own quiet room, and to gently encounter the self.

It hopes to be a soft pause at the end of the year.
