양시영 작가는 서번트 증후군과 발달 장애 진단을 받은 하티즘(Hautism) 작가로, 다섯 살 무렵 미술 치료를 시작한 이후 탁월한 조형 감각과 표현력을 드러내며 작가로 성장해왔다.
하티즘은 '마음속에서 그리고 싶은 것을 솔직하게 표현하는 발달장애 예술가의 화풍'을 지칭하며, 그의 작업은 기존의 회화적 문법이나 관습을 따르지 않지만, 그로 인해 오히려 더욱 직관적이고 본질적인 감각을 드러낸다.

Siyoung Yang is an artist with Hautism, a term combining high-functioning autism and artistic expression, who was diagnosed with both savant syndrome and developmental disabilities. He began art therapy around the age of five, and since then, has demonstrated an exceptional sense of form and expression, growing steadily into his role as an artist. Hautism refers to the raw, honest expression of what an artist with developmental disabilities wants to depict from the heart — a visual language that defies traditional painterly conventions, yet reveals a more intuitive and essential sensibility because of that very difference.

The artist carefully captures and preserves memories of emotions and objects encountered in daily life, translating them into images rather than words. The figures in his paintings are less traditional portraits and more traces of emotional echoes and internal memories. His mode of expression leans toward evocation rather than description, inviting viewers to experience the sensory vibrations that lie beneath the surface of the image. Yang’s work possesses the clarity and warmth of a child’s innocent gaze — a way of seeing the world with unfiltered sincerity. Every object and element of nature appears to him as pure sensation before interpretation, and he renders these impressions vividly and candidly on the canvas.
