현대사회의 다양하고 지속적인 변화에 맞서기 위해서는 기존의 단일 학문에서 벗어나 융합과 결합을 통한 새로운 관점이 필요하다. 현대미술에서도 수많은 장르가 생겨났다 사라지고, 표현 재료 역시 무궁하며 표현 방식도 저마다의 개성에 따라 다른 것이 쉽게 목격된다. 이러한 현대 예술의 역할을 고민하며 헤드비갤러리는 예술과 스포츠의 융합을 꾀한다.


이번 <HAVE A NICE DAY!> 展을 통해 예술은 스포츠를 만나 예술의 권위를 내려놓고 대중의 일상에 한발 다가가는 한편, 스포츠는 예술을 통해 몸을 움직이는 행위에 특별한 의미를 더할 수 있다. ‘어떻게 나이들 것인가’를 고민하는 권신홍 작가는 아직 젊기 때문에 경험해본 적 없는 ‘노인’의 모습을 작가의 상상력으로 표현하여 ‘무상’의 것을 ‘구상’으로 전환한다. 작가가 꿈꾸는 늙은이의 모습은 나약한 존재가 아니라 골프채를 휘두를 만큼 힘있고 경쾌하다. 권신홍 작가는 노인을 세월의 빛이 머무는 대상으로 보며, 그 대상을 선명하고 강렬한 색채와 단순한 형태로 표현한다. 작가에게 위트와 언어유희, 은유는 작업의 가장 중요한 요소이다. 할아버지 할머니를 칭하는 BOY, GIRL 시리즈 중 OLD BOY는 작가 특유의 유쾌한 시선이 담긴 장면으로 구성하여 작품 속 노인을 젊은 세대들과 별반 다르지 않은 모습으로 나타낸다. 감각적이며 위트 있는 인상을 줄 수 있는 지점은 패션 시즌 트렌드를 구분하는 용어 SS/FW의 사용이다. 패션용어를 제목에 명시하며 엉뚱하면서도 더 특별하고 멋스런 노인의 모습으로 다가온다.


특히 이번 헤드비갤러리의 <HAVE A NICE DAY!> 展은 골프에서 공을 잘 쳤을 때 외치는 기분좋은 구호 ‘Nice shot!’을 연상하게 한다. 파란 하늘로 시원하게 뻗어 나가는 공을 바라보며 뿌듯한 표정을 짓는 권신홍의 OLD BOY를 감상하며 관람자도 경쾌한 기분을 느끼기 바란다. 헤드비갤러리의 권신홍 작가 개인전 HAVE A NICE DAY> 展은 9월 11일 토요일부터 10월 8일 금요일까지 한 달간 진행한다.


　A new perspective through convergence and combination is needed to cope with various and continuous in modern society. In modern art, numerous genres have emerged and disappeared in modern art, and materials and methods of expression depending on individuality were also observed. Thinking about the role of modern art, hedwig-gallery Gallery seeks to integrate art and sports in this exhibition.

Through this <HAVE A NICE DAY!> exhibition, art meets sports, taking a step closer to daily lives of the public, while sports add special meaning of the act of moving the body via art. Artist, Gwon Shin-hong, who thinks about "how to get old," manages to change the "intangible" into "ideal" with his imagination by expressing images of an "old man" that he has never experienced before. The image of the old man that the artist dreams of is not weak, but powerful and cheerful enough to swing a golf club.

　Gwon sees the elderly as an object where the glim of time stays, and expresses the figure in a clear, intense color and simple form. Moreover, wit, pun, and metaphor are the most important elements in his works. Among the BOY and GIRL series, which refer to grandfathers and grandmothers, OLD BOY consists of scenes containing the artist's unique pleasant gaze, showing the elderly in the work in a way which is not much different from the younger generation. The point which gives a sensuous and witty impression is the usage of the fashion season term, SS/FW, as it comes in the form of a quirky, more special, and stylish old man, specifying fashion terms in the title.

　Especially, "HAVE A NICE DAY!" by hedwig-gallery Gallery is reminiscent of the pleasant chant, 'Nice shot!' a phrase told when a golfer hit a ball well in golf. Have a look at Gwon's OLD BOY, which illustrates a proud-looking old man while watching at a ball that stretches out into the blue sky, and galleries feeling cheerful. hedwig-gallery Gallery's solo exhibition, “HAVE A NICE DAY!”, will be held from September 11 to October 8.
