박구환 개인전

현대의 삶은 숨 가쁘게 흘러가고, 고향과 자연은 점점 더 희미한 기억 속으로 밀려난다. 그 사이, 박구환 작가는 생명과 환희의 감각을 되살리는 풍경을 조형하며, 기억과 감정, 이상과 현실이 교차하는 세계를 펼쳐 보인다. 

변화무쌍한 날씨와 농사를 지으며 자연에 개입한 인간의 행위, 나무가 만개한 순간, 땅의 곡선과 직선이 만들어내는 선율 같은 장면들은 시각적으로 전개되며, 때로는 청각적 리듬을 불러일으킨다. 실재와 허상의 경계가 허물어지는 화면 위에서, 박구환 작가만의 유토피아가 조용히 피어난다. 작가에게 바다는 한때 정체되고 무심한 존재였지만, 고단했던 시기의 고뇌와 고립 속에서 평온과 위안의 풍경으로 다시 다가왔다. 바다를 터전으로 삼고 살아가는 사람들, 그들을 둘러싼 만개한 꽃나무의 이미지는 더 이상 도피의 장소가 아닌, 작가가 삶의 중심에서 끌어안은 희망과 재생의 상징이 되었다. 그의 풍경은 관람자에게도 저마다의 기억을 불러일으킨다. 유년의 추억, 잊혀진 고향, 또는 마음속 이상향 그 모든 정경은 흐릿하고도 선명하게 겹쳐지며 개인의 기억과 감각을 자극한다. 

박구환 작가는 목판화 기법을 통해 사람이 표현할 수 없는 미묘한 질감과 우연적 아름다움을 차용하며, 자연의 생명성을 화폭 위에 새긴다. 씨를 뿌리고 꽃이 피어나는 과정처럼, 그는 목판 위에 흔적을 남기고, 그 흔적은 반복과 소멸을 거쳐 다색 목판화로 재탄생된다. 여기에 유화의 깊이 있는 색감을 덧입히며, 작가는 판화와 유화의 결합을 통해 자신만의 독자적인 화풍을 완성한다.

박구환의 작업은 고향을 생명의 근원으로 바라보며, 자연을 통한 회복과 치유의 가능성을 환기시킨다. 그의 풍경은 특정한 시공간을 재현하는 것이 아니라, 우리 내면 깊숙이 잠들어 있던 감각과 기억을 조용히 흔든다. 익숙하면서도 아득한 고향의 정서, 그 속에서 피어나는 생명의 울림은 오늘의 우리에게 위안과 기쁨을 건넨다. 작가는 이 전시를 통해 우리가 각자의 고요한 풍경 속에서 스스로를 되돌아보기를, 그리하여 잠시나마 삶의 무게를 내려놓고 조용한 위로에 머무르기를 제안한다.

Modern life moves at a breathless pace, and memories of home and nature are gradually pushed into the background. Amidst this, artist Park Kuhwan constructs landscapes that revive sensations of life and joy—unfolding a world where memory and emotion, ideal and reality, intersect.

Scenes drawn from ever-changing weather, the human interventions of farming, the blossoming of trees, and the rhythmic interplay of curves and lines in the earth unfold visually—and at times evoke a sense of auditory rhythm. On canvases where the boundary between the real and the imagined dissolves, Park’s quiet utopia gently emerges. For the artist, the sea—once a stagnant and indifferent presence—transformed during times of hardship and isolation into a landscape of peace and comfort. Images of people living by the sea, surrounded by blooming trees, are no longer symbols of escape, but rather of hope and renewal—embraced at the center of life. His landscapes stir within viewers their own memories—of childhood, of forgotten hometowns, or of inner utopias. These scenes overlap, faint yet vivid, awakening individual memories and senses.

Through woodblock printmaking, Park Kuhwan captures delicate textures and spontaneous beauty that transcend what can be expressed by hand. Like the process of planting a seed and watching it bloom, he leaves traces on the woodblock—traces that undergo repetition and erasure to become reborn as multicolored prints. By layering the rich tones of oil painting atop them, he creates a distinctive style through the fusion of printmaking and oil media.

Park’s work regards the idea of “hometown” as a source of life, evoking the potential for healing and restoration through nature. His landscapes do not recreate specific times or places, but instead gently awaken dormant sensations and memories within us. The emotional resonance of home—at once familiar and distant—becomes a quiet offering of solace and joy. Through this exhibition, the artist invites us to reflect within our own quiet landscapes, to set down the weight of life, and to linger in a moment of silent comfort.
