우리의 삶은 반복되는 일상의 순간들로 구성되어 있다. 하지만 그 안에는 웃음, 공감, 아이러니, 위트처럼 사소하지만 결코 가볍지 않은 감정의 결들이 존재한다.  《Constant Moment》는 이러한 순간들 속에서 발현되는 감성과 유쾌함을 각자의 방식으로 포착해온 두 작가, 강수정과 박종화의 세계를 통해 풀어낸다.

강수정 작가는 대학 시절부터 사용해온 ‘아이러니’라는 닉네임처럼, 웹과 소셜미디어의 알고리즘 속에서 벌어지는 일상의 상황들에 영감을 받아 작업을 전개해왔다. 작가는 특정한 감정이나 생각에 사로잡히지 않기 위해 의도적으로 '익은 생각'을 멀리하며, 낯설지만 감각적인 이미지로 자신의 상상력과 이야기들을 풀어낸다. 붓과 물감의 터치 역시 날카롭지 않게, 부드럽고 편안한 감성으로 표현되며, 춤, 사랑, 운동, 여행 등 평범한 일상의 장면을 공감 가는 감정으로 이끌어낸다. 한 화면 한 화면에는 짧은 이야기들이 담겨 있으며, 소소한 웃음을 유발하거나, 호기심을 자극하는 순간들이 등장한다. 강수정의 작업은 익숙한 하루 속에서 우리 모두가 느낄 수 있는 감정을 가볍고 유쾌한 방식으로 회화적 언어로 풀어낸다.

박종화 작가는 그림을 통해 세상의 이야기를 전달하는 ‘전달자’로서의 태도를 지닌다. 일상에서 웃음을 잃어가는 순간들 속에서, 유쾌함을 회복하려는 의지로 작업을 이어간다. 작가는 에스키스를 생략하고, 영화의 한 장면처럼 장면을 픽스하는 방식으로 직관적인 구성을 선택하며, 명화 속 인물이나 장면을 차용해 자신만의 스토리텔링을 덧입힌다. 고흐와 고갱처럼 서로 다른 인물과 세계가 한 화면에서 교차하는 방식은 작가만의 언어유희이자, 여백으로 남겨진 상상의 공간이다. 이러한 접근은 현실과 고전, 예술과 유머가 섞이는 콜라주적 내러티브를 만들어내며, 작가 고유의 시간감각을 담아낸 ‘타임 콜라주’로 이어진다.

《Constant Moment》는 두 작가가 일상 속 순간을 각자의 시선으로 포착하고 회화적으로 표현한 작업들을 통해, 우리가 지나쳐온 감정과 경험의 밀도를 다시 바라보게 한다. 유쾌함을 유쾌함으로, 공감을 공감으로 환기시키는 이 전시는, 그림을 통해 연결되는 감정의 회로를 잠시나마 다시 켜보게 만드는 소중한 기회가 될 것이다.

Our lives are made up of repeated moments of everyday routine. Yet within them lie subtle but significant layers of emotion—laughter, empathy, irony, and wit. 《Constant Moment》 unpacks these emotions and their inherent lightness through the worlds of two artists, Kang Sujeong and Park Jonghwa, each of whom has captured these sensibilities in their own way.

Kang Sujeong, who has used the nickname “Irony” since her university days, draws inspiration from the daily situations unfolding within the algorithms of the web and social media. To avoid being confined by specific emotions or thoughts, the artist deliberately distances herself from “settled ideas,” instead unfolding her imagination and narratives through unfamiliar yet sensuous imagery. Her brushstrokes and use of color are never sharp but are expressed with a soft and comforting tone, guiding scenes from everyday life—like dancing, love, sports, and travel—into spaces of shared emotional resonance. Each canvas contains a short narrative, bringing about gentle laughter or sparking curiosity through subtle moments. Kang Sujeong’s work translates the emotions we all feel in our familiar daily lives into a painterly language that is lighthearted and pleasant.

Park Jonghwa approaches painting with the attitude of a “messenger” conveying the stories of the world. Amid the moments when laughter disappears from daily life, the artist continues his work with a desire to recover joy. He omits preparatory sketches and instead fixes scenes intuitively, like capturing a single film frame. He borrows figures and scenes from iconic paintings and overlays them with his own storytelling. The coexistence of different characters and worlds—like Van Gogh and Gauguin within the same frame—becomes a form of wordplay unique to the artist and opens a space for imaginative interpretation. This approach blends reality and classicism, art and humor, into a collage-like narrative that unfolds as a “time collage,” infused with the artist’s personal sense of time.

《Constant Moment》 invites us to re-examine the density of emotions and experiences we may have overlooked through paintings that capture everyday moments from each artist’s distinct perspective. This exhibition, which rekindles joy through joy and empathy through empathy, offers a rare chance to momentarily reconnect with the emotional circuits that paintings can ignite.
