동시대 예술에서 ‘색’은 단순한 시각적 요소를 넘어, 감정과 관계, 사고의 층위를 드러내는 복합적 언어로 작동한다. 헤드비갤러리는 이번 전시 《색色상相》을 통해 각기 다른 예술적 배경과 조형 언어를 지닌 네 명의 작가 안토니오(이혁), 이예림, 전다래, 홍미희의 작업을 한자리에 모아 색과 형식, 감각과 사유가 만들어내는 다채로운 ‘조화’를 탐색하고자 한다.

안토니오(이혁) 작가는 분단국가 한국에서 태어나 유럽과 북미의 다양한 문화 속에서 삶을 영위하며, 상이한 문명 간의 충돌과 융합을 조형 언어로 풀어낸다. 작품에 등장하는 서로 다른 선과 면은 ‘다름’과 ‘만남’이라는 테마 아래, 타자와의 조우에서 비롯되는 조화와 균형을 시각화한다. 이는 작가가 바라는 이상적 인간관계와 사회의 형태를 반영한 추상적 풍경이다.

이예림 작가는 도시에 속한 건축물을 삶의 메타포로 삼는다. 건물은 단단한 구조물이자, 그 안에 머무는 인간의 내면을 비추는 존재다. 작가는 직선과 색면, 유기적 선의 구성으로 도시에 내재한 감정의 결을 포착하며, 마치 따뜻한 일기처럼 화면 위에 삶의 파편을 담아낸다. 최근 작업에서는 조각난 색면들이 모여 마을을 이루는 장면을 통해 공동체와 희망의 서사를 시도한다.

전다래 작가는 음악에서 영감을 받아 화면을 소리 없는 화음으로 구성한다. 아크릴, 오일 파스텔, 과슈 등 다양한 재료를 악기의 파트처럼 혼합하며, 화면에는 색의 리듬과 선의 제스처가 자유롭게 교차한다. 작가는 감정과 생명력, 율동감이 담긴 장면을 통해 회화가 지닌 감각의 폭과 자유를 확장한다.

홍미희 작가는 회화와 조각의 경계를 넘나들며, 물성과 구조를 기반으로 한 독창적 작업을 전개한다. 캔버스 천과 종이보드, 틀을 활용해 다면적인 시점을 부여하고, 감상자가 하나의 시점에 머무르지 않고 작품을 둘러보도록 유도한다. 상반된 개념의 조합으로 수직과 수평, 평면과 입체, 보색의 대비 등을 통해 긴장과 균형, 조화의 미감을 제시한다.

《색色상相》은 작가들이 각기 다른 영감의 원천과 조형 언어로 구축한 색의 감각을 하나의 시공간에서 조율하는 전시다. 선과 면, 색과 재료가 교차하는 장면 속에서 드러나는 조화의 가능성은, 예술이 타인과 세계를 이해하고 공존하는 방법이 될 수 있음을 다시금 보여준다.

In contemporary art, color functions as more than a visual element—it acts as a layered language that expresses emotion, relationships, and thought. The exhibition 색色상相 (Hue/Form/Phase) at Hedwig Gallery brings together the works of four artists—Antonio (Lee Hyuk), Yerim Lee, Darae Jeon, and Mihee Hong—each with distinct artistic backgrounds and visual vocabularies, to explore the diverse harmonies created through color, form, sensation, and reflection.

Antonio (Lee Hyuk), born in divided Korea and shaped by experiences across Europe and North America, translates the tension and fusion between civilizations into a sculptural visual language. The intersecting lines and planes in his abstract compositions embody the themes of difference and encounter, visualizing harmony and balance born from meeting the other. These works reflect an ideal vision of human relationships and societal structures.

Yerim Lee uses urban architecture as a metaphor for life. Buildings—firmly structured yet inhabited by the soft complexity of human emotion—become mirrors of inner life. Through compositions of straight lines, blocks of color, and organic contours, she captures emotional traces embedded in the urban landscape. Like a personal journal, her paintings gather fragments of life, and in recent works, scattered color fields come together to form communal villages, suggesting a narrative of hope and togetherness.

Darae Jeon draws inspiration from music, constructing visual harmonies through materials such as acrylic, oil pastel, and gouache. She blends these elements like parts of an orchestra, creating canvases where rhythms of color and gestural lines intersect freely. Her work extends the sensory and expressive range of painting, channeling emotion, vitality, and lyrical movement into layered visual symphonies.

Mihee Hong traverses the boundaries of painting and sculpture, building her work on materiality and structure. Using canvas, paperboard, and framing devices, she constructs multifaceted perspectives that encourage the viewer to move around the work rather than remain in a single viewpoint. Through juxtapositions of opposing elements—vertical and horizontal, flatness and volume, complementary colors—she explores a visual language of tension, balance, and harmony.

색色상相 (Hue/Form/Phase) orchestrates these distinct sensibilities of color into a shared space. In the interplay of lines and planes, pigments and materials, the exhibition reveals the potential for harmony—not as uniformity, but as an artistic gesture toward understanding, empathy, and coexistence. It reminds us that art, in its layered textures and contrasts, offers a way to perceive and connect with others and the world.
