NFT(Non Fungible Token, 대체 불가능 토큰)디지털 환경 속 예술의 고유성과 소유권을 증명하는 새로운 플랫폼으로, 창작과 감상의 방식 모두에 확장된 가능성을 제시한다. 이번 메타버스 전시는 안토니오 작가가 NFT와 처음으로 조우하며, 오프라인과 온라인을 넘나드는 새로운 예술의 언어를 구축하는 실험의 장이자, 기술과 감성이 교차하는 공간이다.

안토니오 작가의 작업 세계는 일관되게 ‘다름’과 ‘차이’를 사유하는 데에서 출발한다. 분단의 기억이 여전히 남아 있는 한국 사회에서 성장한 그는, 지역적·문화적 이질성이 응축된 경험을 바탕으로 작업을 전개해왔다. 2010년, 이탈리아 밀라노 국립미술대학교 브레라(Brera)에서 서양 미술과 마주하며 생경한 문화적 충돌을 경험했고, 2016년부터 북미 대륙에서 이어진 미술 학업은 작가에게 또 다른 환경과 시선 속에서 자신을 정의할 수 있는 계기가 되었다. 동서양을 넘나든 이 여정은 작가의 정체성을 더욱 유동적이고 다층적으로 형성하게 했다.

작가의 ‘조우’는 관계 형성의 시작이다. 작가의 삶에서 느낀 차이처럼, “타인과의 만남에서 필연적인 다름을 어떻게 만날 것인가”는 작업의 핵심 질문이자 태도이다. 이 같은 질문은 화면 위에 이질적인 선과 선, 형과 형이 충돌하거나 포개지는 방식으로 구현된다. 즉흥적으로 교차하는 조형 요소들은 결코 단일하지 않은 세계를 구성하며, 다름의 충돌 속에서 마침내 조화의 가능성을 제시한다. 이는 단지 시각적 통일이 아니라, 다름을 수용하고 존중하는 태도를 시각적으로 표상한다. 이번 NFT 작업은 이러한 조형 언어가 디지털 환경과 만나며 어떻게 새롭게 변형되는지를 보여준다. 린넨이라는 물성이 주는 직조감은 강렬한 네온톤과 그래픽 요소로 재구성되어, 디지털 회화의 감각으로 확장된다. 작가는 오프라인 회화를 먼저 완성한 후, 이를 NFT로 전환하는 과정을 통해 색채와 감정의 밀도를 새롭게 구축하며, 대체 불가능한 고유의 이미지로 재탄생시킨다.

《조우: 다름을 포용하다》는 메타버스 공간 안에서 펼쳐지는 예술의 현재이자 미래다. 이는 단지 기술적 실험을 넘어, 익숙함과 낯섦이 공존하는 동시대 예술의 존재 방식에 대한 하나의 응답이며, 서로 다른 문화와 감각이 만나는 자리에서 비롯되는 창조의 힘을 역설한다. 작가의 조형 언어가 NFT라는 새로운 매체 속에서 확장되는 이 전시는, ‘다름’을 수용하고 이해하는 감각을 새롭게 사유하는 기회를 제공한다.

Encounter: Embracing Difference is a metaverse exhibition that positions NFT (Non-Fungible Token) not merely as a technical medium, but as a transformative platform for proving authenticity and ownership in the digital realm. This exhibition marks artist Antonio’s first engagement with NFT, serving as a space of experimentation where online and offline modes of expression converge and where technology meets emotion to forge a new language of art.

Antonio’s artistic universe consistently begins with the contemplation of “difference” and “otherness.” Raised in a Korean society still marked by the memory of division, the artist has developed his work through experiences of regional and cultural heterogeneity. In 2010, while studying Western art at Brera Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, he experienced intense cultural dissonance. Later, from 2016 onward, his continued studies in North America offered him new vantage points through which to redefine his identity. This journey across East and West has shaped Antonio’s identity into something fluid and multilayered.

For Antonio, “encounter” is the genesis of relationship. Just as he has encountered difference in his own life, the central question of his work becomes: How do we meet the inevitable otherness in others? This question is enacted visually through the collision and layering of dissimilar lines, forms, and structures on the canvas. His spontaneous and intersecting visual elements form a world that is never singular, suggesting that within the friction of difference lies the possibility of harmony—not as uniformity, but as a visual attitude of respect and inclusion. In his NFT works, this approach is reimagined through a digital lens. The tactile quality of linen is transformed into vibrant neon tones and graphic elements, expanding his painterly language into the realm of digital sensibility. By first completing physical paintings and then converting them into NFTs, Antonio reconfigures the density of color and emotion, giving birth to unique, non-fungible images.

Encounter: Embracing Difference presents the evolving present and future of art within a metaverse space. More than a technical experiment, it reflects a response to the way contemporary art coexists with both familiarity and strangeness. It speaks to the creative energy born from the meeting of diverse cultures and perceptions. As Antonio’s visual language expands into the NFT medium, this exhibition offers a fresh perspective on how we might perceive, accept, and understand difference in an increasingly hybrid world.
