이효연 작가는 현실과 비현실, 자연과 예술의 경계를 넘나들며, 몽환적이 광활한 풍경을 구상한다.

작품 속에는 서로 다른 기후대에 속한 식물들이 하나의 장면 안에 등장한다. 열대의 야자수, 사막의 선인장, 한대의 설목(雪木) 등 서로 다른 기후의 식물들이 하나의 장면에 공존하며, 이질적인 존재 간의 조화를 회화적으로 보여준다. 작가는 자연이라는 주제를 통해 우리가 살아가는 세계의 다양성과 관계의 조화를 회화적 언어로 풀어낸다. 사실적이면서도 환영적인 이 공간은 어딘가 존재할 법하면서도 실재하지 않는 장소로, 각자의 경험과 기억, 정서에 따라 다르게 감각 된다. 풍경은 단지 자연을 재현하는 배경이 아니라, 서로 다른 존재들이 어떻게 함께 머물 수 있는지를 성찰하게 하는 장치로 작용한다.

이번 전시는 인물과 풍경, 현실과 상상의 경계가 흐릿해진 그 사이에서, 우리 삶의 감각을 다시 환기시키는 시간을 제안한다. 자연의 다층적 아름다움과 조화의 가능성을 그려낸 이효연 작가의 회화 세계를 통해, 조용히 그러나 깊이 공명하는 회화적 울림을 마주하게 되길 바란다.

Artist Hyoyeon Lee traverses the boundaries between reality and fantasy, nature and art, envisioning vast and dreamlike landscapes in her paintings.

Her works feature scenes in which plants from vastly different climate zones—tropical palms, desert cacti, snow-covered arctic trees—coexist within a single frame. This pictorial convergence of diverse flora offers a poetic visualization of harmony among disparate elements. Through the theme of nature, Lee reflects on the diversity of our world and the possibility of coexistence, expressing these ideas through her unique painterly language. The resulting landscapes are both realistic and illusory, evoking places that seem like they could exist, yet remain entirely imaginary. Depending on each viewer’s memories, emotions, and experiences, these scenes are perceived in varied ways. Here, the landscape is not merely a backdrop, but a contemplative space that asks how different beings can inhabit the same world together.

This exhibition invites viewers to dwell in the blurred space between figure and landscape, reality and imagination.
