헤드비갤러리는 인고의 시간을 수 놓으며 마음의 고요를 찾는 상태로 나아가는 김순철 작가와 죽은 듯 보였던 고목을 통해 생명력을 찾아가는 김근배 작가의 2인전 ‘Still, Wave and Again’을 오는 2월 28일부터 개최한다. 두 작가는 특유의 오브제로 고요하면서 움직이고 자라나는, 다시 순환하는 소망과 가치를 담아낸다.

인고의 시간을 수 놓은 꽃이 활짝 피었다. 실로 삶의 과정과 의미 그리고 인내의 결실로 담은 “About Wish”는 한지 위에 바느질과 그림으로 재구성된 오브제의 형상과 색으로 실제 본질과 관람객 사이에서 오브제가 주는 상징성은 한국화를 현대미술 속으로 스며들듯이 확장해 가고 있다. 작가는 동양화에서 선이 가장 중요하다고 생각하며 그 선을 더 적극적이고, 활동적으로 표현하고자 바늘땀을 이용한다. 이런 작업을 통하여 자신을 돌아보는 성찰을 말하고자 한다. 작품의 앞면과 뒷면을 아우르는 바느질은 나와 내면의 또 다른 나, 또는 나와 주변의 소통을 의미하며 이어지는 바느질은 어제와 오늘의 시간을 연결한다. 한 땀 한 땀의 바느질을 통해 반복되는 행위로 일상을 느리지만 오랜 시간의 이야기들과 교감할 수 있는 시간으로, 자신을 미세한 감정의 결들을 담아내고 또 비워내는 결국에는 마음의 고요를 찾는 상태로 도달하게 된다. 이렇게 바느질을 통해 오브제의 관습적 의미를 비우고, 새로운 의미를 부여한다. 실을 사용해 나타나는 오브제의 입체감은 빛과 함께 어우러져 보는 방향에 따라 다양한 느낌을 전달한다. 마치 가득 찬 항아리에서 복잡함을 비워낸 항아리와 같이 맑고 명료한 의식에 닿고자 하는 작가의 소망을 담는다.

낭만을 추구하는 김근배 작가는 드넓은 평야와 정미소가 작가의 호기심의 장소였으며 작품의 소재가 되었다. 청동을 절단하고, 분절된 동선을 용접하는 과정으로 금속은 작품의 골조를 이루는 형태를 갖춘다. 한 점의 창작품을 만들기 위해 10번이 넘는 공정을 쉼 없이 반복한다. 생명력을 넣기 위해 삶의 체험에서 끌어올린 낭만과 동경 등을 몽상으로 빚어 자신의 이야기를 불어넣는다. 유년 시절에 함께 했던 오브제와 생명력 있는 푸른 고목나무와 함께하며 생동감 있게 나타난다. 자신의 삶을 투영한 로봇의 형상을 초현실적이고 낭만적으로 표현하였고, 입체 작품 책가도 시리즈는 테이블, 책장, 책상 등 집안의 가구와 잘 어울리도록 제작한다. 고목은 죽은 듯 보이지만 나뭇잎을 틔우고 꽃을 피우며 생명력을 찾아간다.

끝없이 순환하고 뻗어나가는 고리의 형태로 생명력 있게 나타나는 길은 작가의 인생이자 인간의 생을 아우르는 여정이다. 삶의 속성 같은 길 위에 자리 잡고 있는 물체는 인생을 성찰하는 과정을 대변한다. 마침내 작가의 이상과 동심이 투영된 세계는 몽상적으로 드러난다. 작가 자신부터 현대인의 삶을 아우르는 풍자적이고 행복한 이야기는 누구나 공감할 수 있는 낭만적인 우화이다.

Hedwig Gallery will hold a two-person exhibition "Still, Wave and Again" from Feb 28 by Kim Soon-cheol, who embroider time of suffering and seeks quiet in his heart, and Kim Geun-bae, who finds vitality through old trees that seemed to be dead. "About Wish," which is truly contained as the result of the process, meaning, and patience of life, is the shape and color of an object reconstructed by sewing and painting on Korean paper, and the symbolism of the object between the actual essence and the audience is expanding as if permeating Korean painting into contemporary art. 

The artist thinks that the line is the most important in oriental painting and uses needle sweat to express the line more actively and actively. Through this work, I would like to express a reflection on myself. Sewing that encompasses the front and back of the work means communication between me and another me, or between me and myself, and the subsequent sewing connects yesterday and today's time.

Through repeated actions through sewing, you can communicate with stories of slow but long periods of time, and eventually arrive in a state of finding the stillness of your mind when you capture and empty the tiny grains of emotion. Through sewing, the customary meaning of the object is emptied and a new meaning is given.

The three-dimensional effect of an object that appears using thread conveys various feelings depending on the direction in which it is viewed together with light. It contains the artist's wish to reach a clear and clear consciousness like a jar in which complexity is emptied from a full jar.

For Kim Geun-bae, who pursues romance, the wide plain and rice mill were the place of the artist's curiosity and became the subject of the work. In the process of cutting bronze and welding the segmented copper wire, metal takes the form of the frame of the work. To create a single creation, the process is repeated more than 10 times without a break.

In order to revitalize, he creates a dream of romance and longing raised from the experiences of life and inspires his own story. He appears vividly with the object he was with as a child and the lively blue old tree. He expresses the shape of a robot that projects his life surreal and romantic, and the three-dimensional work Chaekga series is made to go well with household furniture such as tables, bookshelves, and desks. The old tree looks dead, but it finds vitality by opening leaves and blooming flowers.

The path that appears vital in the form of an endless cycle and stretch is both the artist's life and a journey that encompasses human life. An object located on a path that is like an attribute of life represents the process of reflecting on life. Finally, the world in which the artist's ideals and concentricity are projected is revealed dreamily. The satirical and happy story that encompasses the life of the artist himself and modern people is a romantic fable that anyone can sympathize with.
