《Wander and Wonder》는 자연과 그 안에서의 인간 존재, 그리고 이 둘 간의 섬세한 상호작용을 탐색하는 전시다. 윤현진과 이상용, 두 작가는 자연과 그 속에서의 인간의 존재, 조화로운 상호작용에 중점을 두고 우연한 발견과 조우의 순간을 시각화하며, 일상 속에서 마주하는 경이로운 감각과 내면의 울림을 작품에 담아낸다.

윤현진 작가의 작업은 동양적 자연관과 조형적 절제를 바탕으로, 마음속 풍경이자 기억의 장소로서의 자연을 구성한다. 나무 패널 위에 먹을 스미게 하거나 결을 따라 조각한 입체적 화면은 산수의 형상을 빌리되, 전통적 진경산수에서 한 발 더 나아가 개인의 내면적 정서를 반영하는 조형 언어로 확장된다. 그의 작업은 정적인 평면을 넘어서, 보는 이의 시선을 천천히 유도하며 감상자 스스로의 자연 경험을 불러일으키는 조용한 사유의 공간을 마련한다.

이상용 작가는 자연 속에서 마주한 대상이나 재료의 물성을 중심으로, 감각과 기억의 층위를 구축한다. 작가는 사물에 새겨진 시간과 우연성을 읽어내고, 그것을 먹, 나무, 종이, 조각 도구 등 물리적 흔적을 통해 시각화한다. 화면 위에 남겨진 결, 흔적, 거친 선의 조형은 단순한 표현이 아닌 감정과 사유가 깃든 기록이며, 그 안에서 작가는 존재와 자연 사이의 본질적인 관계를 다시 질문한다.

서로 다른 방식으로 자연과 관계를 맺는 두 작가는 이번 전시를 통해 감각과 인식의 경계에 놓인 자연, 그리고 그 안에서의 인간 경험을 시적으로 풀어낸다. 《Wander and Wonder》는 익숙한 자연을 낯선 감각으로 다시 바라보게 하며, 각자의 속도로 풍경을 걷고, 머무르며, 그 안에서 새롭게 자연과 자신을 마주하는 시간을 선사한다.

《Wander and Wonder》 is an exhibition that explores nature, human existence within it, and the delicate interactions between the two. Artists Hyunjin Yoon and Sangyong Lee focus on the harmonious relationship between humans and nature, visualizing moments of accidental discovery and encounter. Their works capture the sense of wonder found in everyday life and the inner resonance it evokes.

Hyunjin Yoon’s work is rooted in an Eastern perspective on nature and a sculptural sense of restraint. She constructs nature as a landscape of the mind and a place of memory. Using ink soaked into wooden panels or carving along the grain, her dimensional surfaces borrow the form of traditional landscape painting while going a step further—expanding into a visual language that reflects personal emotion. Her works create a contemplative space that slowly guides the viewer’s gaze and evokes their own experiences of nature.

Sangyong Lee’s work centers on the materiality of objects encountered in nature and builds layers of sensation and memory. He reads the time and chance inscribed in objects and visualizes them through physical traces using ink, wood, paper, and carving tools. The textures, marks, and rough lines on his surfaces are not merely expressive, but serve as records imbued with emotion and thought. Through them, he continually re-questions the essential relationship between existence and nature.

Though differing in approach, both artists poetically explore nature situated on the border between perception and sensation. 《Wander and Wonder》 invites viewers to perceive the familiar natural world through new sensibilities, offering moments to walk, linger, and rediscover both nature and the self at one’s own pace.
