영재 개인전

영재 작가는 시간의 흐름 속에서 과거, 현재, 미래의 시공간을 교차시키며, 서로 다른 시간 속 존재 간의 교감을 동시적인 화면에 담아낸다. 이 조형적 구성은 분절된 시간의 틈을 잇고, 기억의 조각들을 하나의 정서적 흐름으로 엮어낸다.

작업의 중심에는 친할머니에 대한 연민의 감정이 자리한다. 작가는 고양이, 장소, 경험 등의 요소를 상징적으로 배치하여, 동화적이고 서정적인 서사를 구성한다. 이는 단순한 회상이 아닌, 기억과 감정의 회복 과정을 시각화하는 장치로 작동한다. 작품 속 인물은 동시적 공간 속에서 그리운 존재와 조우하고, 함께 시간을 걷는다. 이러한 서사는 재현에 머무르지 않고, 잊고 지냈던 감정의 층위를 환기하며 관람자의 내면을 향해 천천히 스며든다. 개인의 서사가 보편적 감정으로 확장되는 지점에서, 작가의 작업은 조용한 공감을 이끌어낸다. 재료 또한 작가의 정서로 연결된다. 한지, 흑연, 먹이라는 전통 재료를 사용해 구성된 화면은 절제된 모노톤 속에서도 깊이 있는 감각을 전달한다. 어두워 보이는 색조 속에서도 부드럽게 살아나는 한지의 결은, 침잠된 공간을 희망의 서사로 전환시키는 역할을 한다.

영재 작가는 개인적인 기억과 감정의 심상을 표현하지만, 그것이 누군가에게 위로가 되고, 따뜻하게 공유될 수 있는 이야기가 되기를 바란다.

Artist Young-jae constructs visual narratives that intertwine past, present, and future — capturing emotional connections between beings across different moments in time within a single, simultaneous frame. This compositional approach bridges the gaps of fragmented time, weaving pieces of memory into a continuous emotional flow.

At the heart of Young-jae’s work lies a deep sense of empathy for his grandmother. Through the symbolic placement of elements such as cats, locations, and personal experiences, he builds lyrical, fairy tale–like narratives. These are not simply recollections, but visualizations of the process of emotional and mnemonic restoration. Figures in his work encounter longed-for presences and walk through time together within shared, layered spaces. Rather than remaining at the level of depiction, his narratives gently awaken forgotten emotional layers, slowly permeating the viewer’s inner world. As personal stories expand into universal sentiments, his work evokes a quiet, resonant sense of empathy.

His materials are equally tied to emotion. Using traditional mediums such as hanji (Korean paper), graphite, and ink, Young-jae’s restrained monochromatic surfaces convey depth and subtlety. Even within somber tones, the delicate texture of hanji softly emerges, transforming stillness into narratives of hope.

Though rooted in personal memory and emotional impressions, Young-jae hopes his work becomes a source of comfort — a quietly shared story that reaches others with warmth and sincerity.
