Stefan Bircheneder, Fori Sim 

2012년 ‘아트쇼부산’으로 출발한 아트부산은, 현재 국내를 대표하는 프리미엄 아트페어로 자리매김하고 있다. 지역성과 국제성을 아우르며, 매년 5월 부산을 중심으로 예술과 휴양, 그리고 컬렉터 문화가 어우러지는 독창적인 예술 경험을 제안한다. 이번 리뷰전은 아트부산 2025 참여를 마친 뒤, 큰 호응을 얻었던 작가들의 주요 작품을 다시 선보이는 자리로 마련되었다. 현실의 재현과 상상력의 변주를 각기 다른 방식으로 탐색해온 두 작가의 작업은, 오늘날 예술이 사회와 환경, 그리고 감각의 구조를 어떻게 다시 구성할 수 있는지를 보여준다.

Stefan Bircheneder는 독일 출신의 극사실주의 작가로, 산업 공간의 구조적 아름다움을 회화적으로 구현한다. 고전 회화 기법과 트롱프뢰유(Trompe-l’œil) 효과를 결합한 작업은 현실과 착시 사이의 경계를 허무는 독자적 시각 언어를 구축하며, 인간이 부재한 풍경 속 정적 감각을 밀도 있게 드러낸다.

Fori Sim은 버려진 플라스틱과 폐기물에서 영감을 받아 로봇 형상의 조형물로 재탄생시키는 업사이클링 작업을 이어오고 있다. 친환경적 메시지와 키덜트적 감성이 결합된 작품은 일상과 놀이, 예술의 경계를 넘나들며 폐기된 오브제에 새로운 생명과 상상력을 부여하는 방식으로 주목받고 있다.

이번 전시는 각기 다른 형식으로 현실을 직면하는 두 작가의 작품을 통해, 오늘날 예술이 다룰 수 있는 감각의 지형을 폭넓게 탐색하는 자리를 제시한다. 

Launched in 2012 as Art Show Busan, Art Busan has since become one of South Korea’s leading premium art fairs. Blending regional identity with international reach, the fair takes place every May in Busan, offering a distinctive cultural experience where art, leisure, and collector culture converge.

This Review Exhibition follows the successful participation in Art Busan 2025 and features key works by two artists who received significant attention during the fair. Through contrasting approaches to realism and imagination, the exhibition explores how contemporary art reconfigures the structures of society, environment, and sensory experience.

Stefan Bircheneder, a hyperrealist painter from Germany, captures the architectural beauty of industrial spaces with meticulous precision. Combining classical painting techniques with trompe-l’œil effects, his works dissolve the boundary between reality and illusion. The absence of human presence in these industrial landscapes evokes a dense stillness, constructing a unique visual language that merges technical mastery with contemplative quietude.

Fori Sim reimagines discarded plastic and industrial waste into sculptural robots, creating playful and environmentally conscious artworks. Fusing eco-friendly messages with a kidult sensibility, Sim’s practice transcends the boundaries of everyday life, play, and art—breathing new life and imaginative potential into abandoned objects through the lens of upcycling.

Together, the two artists confront reality through vastly different formal strategies. This exhibition invites viewers to explore the evolving sensory terrain of contemporary art and consider how artistic practices today navigate between materiality, imagination, and ecological awareness.
